Cookies Policy

This policy explains what daytify.com stores on your device, why, for how long, and who else can read it. It sits alongside our Privacy Policy, which covers what we do with personal data more generally, and our Terms of Service.

“Cookies” here is shorthand. The same rules, and this same policy, apply to anything else that stores or reads information on your device — local storage, tracking pixels, and third-party scripts that can recognise your browser.

Daytify OÜ decides what is stored on your device and why. In data protection terms we are the controller for everything described on this page.

The short version

• We run no analytics at all. There is no Google Analytics on this site, and no analytics or measurement product of any other kind. No analytics cookie is set, whatever you choose. We are not measuring you.
• If you are just browsing, you get one cookie. A session cookie that holds your visit together. That is the whole story until you either make a cookie choice or sign in.
• The Facebook SDK and Google reCAPTCHA do not load until you allow marketing cookies. Without that permission your browser makes no request to Meta or Google at all. It is not a blocked request or an empty placeholder — the script tag is removed on our server before the page is sent to you.
• Refusing is one click, exactly like accepting. Same screen, same size button, no extra steps.
• There is no cookie wall. Refuse everything optional and the entire site still works exactly as before. You lose nothing.
• We do not sell what cookies tell us and we do not build advertising profiles from it.

You can check all of this yourself. Open your browser’s developer tools, look at the Network and Storage panels, and see what is actually requested and stored.

The rules we follow

Estonia has never unambiguously written Article 5(3) of the ePrivacy Directive (2002/58/EC) into national law — the Data Protection Inspectorate has said so itself. There is therefore no Estonian section number to quote at you for cookie consent, and we will not pretend otherwise. We apply Article 5(3) directly, together with the GDPR and the Court of Justice’s judgment in Case C-673/17 (Planet49).

In practice that means:

• We may store or read something on your device without asking only where it is strictly necessary to deliver the service you asked for.
• For everything else we need your consent first. Nothing outside the strictly necessary category loads until you allow it.
• Consent has to be a clear, affirmative act. A pre-ticked box is not consent. Scrolling is not consent. Carrying on reading is not consent. Silence is not consent.
• Telling you to switch cookies off in your browser settings is not an acceptable substitute for asking you, and we do not rely on it.
• Withdrawing consent must be as easy as giving it.

How the cookie banner works

The banner gives you exactly three things to do, all of them available on the first screen without digging:

• Accept all — allow every category at once, in one click.
• Reject all — refuse everything that is not strictly necessary, in one click. Only the strictly necessary cookies then apply. This button sits next to “Accept all”, is the same size and has the same visual weight.
• Customise — open the detail panel and decide category by category which optional cookies you allow, then save.

Every category in the detail panel tells you, before you decide, what it is for, who sets and controls it, how long it is stored, and whether anyone outside Daytify can read it. Optional categories all start switched off.

Changing your mind

Once you have made a choice, a Cookie settings button appears in the bottom-left corner of every page. It is there on every page, on every visit, for as long as your choice is stored. Select it and the same panel reopens with your current settings shown.

From there you can switch any category off, or use Reject all to withdraw every optional consent at once. Withdrawing takes exactly the same number of clicks as giving consent, and takes effect immediately: the page reloads without the third-party scripts, because whether those scripts are printed into the page at all is decided before the page reaches you.

Withdrawing consent has no consequences for your account. It is not a breach of our Terms, it does not restrict any feature, and nothing about your membership changes.

Your decision is stored in a first-party cookie named daytify_cookie_consent. It records which categories you allowed, when you decided, and the version of this notice you saw — that last part is what lets us prove consent was properly obtained. It lasts six months. If we change what we use cookies for, we increase the version number and ask everyone again rather than carrying an old answer forward.

You can also delete cookies at any time in your browser settings. If you delete daytify_cookie_consent, we treat you as never having answered and ask again.

Every cookie we set

This is the complete list. Nothing else is set by us.

All six are strictly necessary or, in the case of your cookie choice, required in order to respect the decision you made. None of them is used to track you across other websites, and none of them is readable by anyone outside Daytify OÜ.

One footnote for completeness: our security firewall may set an additional cookie when a site administrator signs in to the WordPress administration area, solely to verify that administrator session. Members never receive it in ordinary use of the site.

Category 1 — Strictly necessary (always on)

• Purpose: signing you in and keeping you signed in; holding your session and part-filled forms together as you move between pages; protecting the site against abuse and fraud; and remembering the cookie choice you make.
• Set and controlled by: Daytify OÜ. Nobody else sets or controls them.
• Storage duration: from “until you close your browser” up to one year — see the table above for each one.
• Third-party access: none. Nothing in this category is readable by anyone outside Daytify OÜ.

These cannot be switched off, because without them you could not sign in, stay signed in, or complete a form. They are not used to profile you.

Category 2 — Analytics (currently empty)

We are not running analytics of any kind. There is no Google Analytics on this site and no equivalent product from anyone else. This category sets no cookies today, allows no cookies today, and will set nothing whether you switch it on or leave it off. We have kept it in the banner so that the choice exists and so this page tells you the truth about it.

If that ever changes, we will update this policy with the actual provider, purpose and duration, raise the consent version so that everyone is asked again, and only then load anything. For transparency, the terms on which we would ever use this category:

• Purpose: counting visits and measuring, in aggregate, which pages are used, so that we can improve them. Never to build a profile of you and never to advertise to you.
• Set and controlled by: Daytify OÜ would decide what is measured; the measurement itself would be carried out by an analytics provider acting on our instructions.
• Storage duration: we would not use anything lasting more than 13 months from your last visit.
• Third-party access: yes — an analytics provider would process the data on our behalf. That is precisely why we ask first.

Category 3 — Marketing and third-party scripts (off unless you allow it)

Two third-party scripts fall into this category. Merely loading either one contacts Meta or Google and lets them recognise your browser, so we do not put them on the page at all until you say yes.

• Purpose: the Facebook SDK (connect.facebook.net) would power Facebook sign-in and audience measurement. The Google reCAPTCHA script (www.google.com/recaptcha) would tell humans from bots on our forms.
• Set and controlled by: Meta Platforms Ireland Limited and Google Ireland Limited respectively. They decide what is stored and for how long; we cannot read it, change it or delete it.
• Storage duration: set by those companies, not by us. Meta documents up to 90 days for its own identifiers; Google documents up to 6 months for its _GRECAPTCHA cookie. Both are stored against their own domains. We report those figures as the providers state them, because we have no way to verify or shorten them — which is another reason we would rather not load these scripts unless you have agreed.
• Third-party access: yes. As soon as either script loads, Meta or Google receives your IP address and the address of the page you are on, and can read whatever it has previously stored on your device.

For complete transparency: Facebook sign-in and reCAPTCHA are both switched off in our own settings at present, so neither script does anything useful on Daytify today. Refusing this category therefore costs you nothing at all. We have kept the category because these are the scripts that would return if we switched those features back on, and you would already have made your choice about them.

Things we load from other companies that set no cookies

A few ordinary page assets come from other companies’ servers. None of them stores or reads anything on your device, so they are not cookies and we do not ask for cookie consent for them. We mention them anyway, because requesting a file from another company’s server does reveal your IP address and the address of the page you are viewing to that company.

• Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com, fonts.gstatic.com) — typefaces used across the site.
• cdnjs (cdnjs.cloudflare.com, operated by Cloudflare) — two small open-source libraries, Font Awesome for icons and Toastr for on-screen notifications.
• Gravatar (secure.gravatar.com, operated by Automattic) — fallback avatar images.

What we do not do

• We do not use a cookie wall, and we do not degrade the site for people who refuse.
• We do not treat continued browsing, scrolling, or closing a banner as consent.
• We do not use pre-ticked boxes.
• We do not make refusing harder, slower or less visible than accepting.
• We do not sell what cookies tell us, and we do not build advertising profiles from it.
• We do not rely on “you can turn cookies off in your browser” as a substitute for asking you.
